Overview
Mayda is a multi-restaurant smart platform providing AI-powered menu viewing, ordering, and restaurant management across web, mobile, and admin interfaces. The ecosystem spans a Next.js customer web app, a shadcn/ui-based operator admin console, an AI microservice (recommendations, semantic search, demand forecasting, and a voice-controlled kitchen assistant) built with FastAPI and ChromaDB, and a React Native mobile app with an experimental AR menu preview. The backend is a FastAPI + PostgreSQL API gateway handling auth, orders, inventory, and payments.
The Story
Background
Built at the Enigmia hackathon, where the challenge was to modernize restaurant operations in Algeria while preserving local food culture. Our team built Mayda as a full tech ecosystem — ordering, kitchen operations, inventory, and AI — and won the "Most Complete Platform Solution" prize.
Key Achievements
- Helped build a multi-repo ecosystem: customer web app, admin console, backend API, AI microservice, and mobile app
- Contributed to the Next.js frontend(s) covering ordering, kitchen (chef), and manager flows
- Integrated real-time order tracking and a voice-controlled kitchen dashboard
- Won "Most Complete Platform Solution" for shipping the broadest working slice of the platform in the hackathon window
Impact
Mayda turned "AI for Algerian culture" into a working restaurant ecosystem — customers can order by voice in natural speech while the platform stays rooted in local food culture — which is what won the team the "Most Complete Platform Solution" prize.
